In Season 1, we meet Cha Hyun-soo, a suicidal teenager who moves into the Green Home apartment complex after losing his family. But his quiet despair is interrupted when a horrifying epidemic breaks out — turning people into grotesque monsters based on their deepest desires.

Trapped inside the building with a mix of strangers, Hyun-soo must fight to survive. But he soon discovers something terrifying: he is becoming a "special infected", teetering between monster and human. As tensions rise, unlikely heroes emerge, and heartbreaking sacrifices are made.

In Season 2 expands the world beyond Green Home. Survivors are scattered across quarantine zones and military shelters, including a massive stadium-turned-refuge. The mystery of monsterization deepens as new types of infected appear — hybrids, immune humans, and intelligent monsters.

Hyun-soo, now on the run, tries to control the monster inside him while searching for answers. Meanwhile, Seo Yi-kyung, the fierce former firefighter, uncovers secrets within the government’s bio-research project.

The season dives deeper into moral questions — who’s worse: the monster outside or the human inside? Friendships are tested, identities blur, and trust becomes a deadly gamble.

In Season 3, the stakes are higher than ever. The world is on the brink. Hyun-soo faces his final transformation — but is it too late to save what’s left of his humanity?

As old allies reunite and new enemies emerge, the battle between survivors, hybrids, and evolving monsters reaches its climax. The secrets of the monsterization virus are finally revealed, along with the origin of Hyun-soo’s condition.

Lines blur between good and evil, man and monster. With time running out, humanity must decide: fight, adapt, or surrender to the new world order?

My Experience:

Sweet Home was a gripping, emotional, and eerie experience that pulled me into a world where monsters were more than just terrifying creatures they were metaphors for our deepest fears and desires. What seemed like a survival horror series at first slowly unraveled into a profound exploration of human psychology, grief, loneliness, and hope. 

As I researched the story behind the series, I was fascinated by how it was adapted from the popular webtoon, and how the creators managed to bring its raw emotional intensity to life through stunning visuals and character-driven storytelling. 

Learning about the production challenges, the symbolism behind the monsters, and how each character’s transformation reflected their inner turmoil gave me a new level of appreciation. The blend of horror, drama, and humanity made it more than just a monster story, it became a mirror to the fragility and strength of the human spirit. Overall, the journey of watching and digging deeper into Sweet Home was unforgettable, leaving me both haunted and inspired.
